My name is Ruby and I am a wife and mother to 3 beautiful children.  I was active as a teen and into my early 20's, however somewhere along the way I stopped making my health a priority. I was 238 lbs at my heaviest and at only 5 foot even, that was a lot for my body to carry. My systolic blood pressure was reading in the upper 170s and I was in the early stages of diabetes.

I had given up hope on all diets, pills, and gimmicks out there. If it has been made, I have tried it!! In 2014 my husband's work relocated us to Alaska and little did I know it was the best thing that could have happened for us at the time. I decided to spend my first winter in Fairbanks preparing for my first 5k in 13 years, in addition to running I was introduced to Dance 2 Fit with Jessica Bass.  Dance Fitness is just that, it is a combination of dance to top 40 radio with traditional body weight fitness exercises.  I began this journey on February 1, 2015 and by race time that May had lost a total of 60 lbs!!! I did Jessica's workouts 5 to 6 days a week in addition to eating healthy balanced meals!! Within 6 months of starting my weight loss journey and visiting my health care provider, I was off all medications and I am no longer pre diabetic.

I look forward to sharing my love of dance fitness with all of you!!! In the words of Jessica Bass, "lets shake it!!"

Tonight my friends and I tried out this class, and loved it. It was definitely both fun and challenging. We are for sure going to make it a routine to go to this class. The instructor was so motivating and energetic! I would recommend this class to anyone, especially those of you who love to dance.
